Seein brought Major G.A.U.G.E. to the recording studio. I had no interest in working with another hip-hop artist. My hands were full executive producing and recording Seein’s album.
But after hearing GAUGE, I instantly changed my mind. He was another diamond in the rough, with a captivating story to tell. I knew I was the right person to help him fulfill his calling. He was capable of changing the world through music, from a down south, southern perspective.
Seein was amazing, but he was from Brooklyn. GAUGE is from Miami. I felt like between the two of them, we could make music that could reach anyone. Even GAUGE’S Christian Mom co-signed for me and told him to sign with me.
In MY LIFE, GAUGE says, “ I put my blood and my sweat in this rhyme,” and he isn’t kidding. In this song, GAUGE lays his entire life on the line, including the time he was beaten and left for dead on the streets of Miami.
GAUGE’S lyrics tell his story:
‘Hear my music and live my years, taste my joy and cry my tears, meet and greet my family and my peers, shed my blood and understand my fears. Personal, but you’re welcome to feel it. Listen hard, and embrace my spirit. People, take the time to listen become loyal fans, because these ain’t just lyrics, these are the words of a wise young soldier, struggling to do what God said he’s supposed to.’
This song reminds me of Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; (6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
This is the type of music the Lord called Major G.A.U.G.E. to make.
